When Doubt Interferes...

Listen to this promise:

"Now you have every grace and blessing; every spiritual gift and power for doing his will are yours during this time of waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ" 1 Cor. 1:7.

A busy day of writing and errand running ahead for me. But I wanted to leave you with the above verse for inspiration.

Isn't it awesome that everything we need is in place to do what God desires of us. May we find a moment today to quietly listen for His guiding, and obediently follow.

Surrendering to Him,

Eileen

Eileen, I just love coming over to your blog and soaking up the spiritual truths the Lord shares with you!

I had an especially hard day yesterday. As a result I woke up with a migraine in the middle of the night last night and couldn't fall back asleep. So I appreciate the reminder that the Lord will provide his power to help me obey him today!

I loved this verse and it comes at a good time in my life when Doubt seems to want to get the best of me in all realms. It's been nice getting to know you back and forth!

Jody, I'm sorry to hear about your migrain. SO NOT FUN! I pray the migraine has already gone away. Hopefully you can retire early tonight to try and catch up on your sleep.

He does provide, but unfortunately sometimes we want more than He feels we need. Yet another way He teaches us to become more like Jesus. May you feel His provisions today readily, Jody!

Tiffany, it's been great getting to know you too. Doubt seems to be ever present with me where writing is concerned especially. I need to hold to His truth, and trust in Him! May we both see the shackles of doubt loosen and give way for humble confidence to emerge through His great mercy on us.

Jessica, I hope you had a wonderful day, too. I'm way behind in writing, too many errands to run, as a result my writing schedule is way out of wack and I find myself procrastinating from getting started. NOT GOOD! Hope you've been better disciplined than me today.

Hi Eileen,
I just read your comment on my blog and thought I'd pop over here to yours and respond. About sending out to agents. I agree that many writers tend to rush into sending to agents and "burn bridges." Once an agent/editor has looked at your MS, it's pretty hard to get them to take another look (from what I've heard). I think you probably could go to a writer's conference and meet with them again and tell them of the changes you've made and try to pitch it again.

I won't re-submit my MS to the agents who've already rejected it. But I would send them my new MS when it's ready. Most likely I'll try to pitch both of my MS's at the ACFW conference.

Like we've been discussing, people (including crit. partners and contest judges) are pretty subjective. We can't base our decisions on the readiness of our work on their comments.

I would put more trust into an editor, however. I paid Tiffany Colter of Writing Career Coach to critique my Genesis entries. I'm planning to use her again when I'm done with my current MS. She's running a special right now for previous clients and she said we could pass the info. along to our friends. If you want more info. on her special, let me know and I can email it to you.

All that to say, if you've already worked to polish and edit your MS, maybe it's worth a try to send it out to a couple of editors/agents. It's a really tough to get noticed as a newbie, no matter your skill and polish. But you can't ever know unless you try!

Or wait, and have your MS(s) ready for the ACFW conference. I'm growing more and more convinced this is the way to really get an agent's immediate attention.

Sorry for the long comment! I'll be quiet now!
