Are you a Hobbyist or a Professional Writer?

I hope you'll come check out my Writer's Rest post today. Come see what I discovered at the Write! Canada writer's conference last week on this very topic.

I think I'm somewhere in between. I have loose goals that I work toward, but I try not to pressure myself because I want to keep it fun.

Attempting to be a professional... but some days, when I'm chasing Brogan around the house (especially away from the dog's water dish), I have to allow myself to morph into a hobyist. :) Great post!

Good question. I write stuff for church all the time, and have had a lot of articles published in religious journals, but none for pay. Now about my book ...

I will head over there. You asked me how I started to write for Chicken Soup? Lots of submissions!! And then seeing what worked.
Also did you see where Angie at Gumbo writer showed me how to turn off the green lines? Check the grammar thing when you right click.

Love the points you made. I'm trying to be professional, but sometimes I feel like I'm just dabbling:)

Hi, Jeannie: A while ago Cathy asked on the loop for contributors to Writer's Rest, so I volunteered.
