Dialogue or Exposition

What's your favorite to write?

I have to say dialogue for me. It's so much more fun to write. Think about it. How many times have you been caught wishing you had some grand one-liner to bounce back with?

Well, with writing, you can take all the time you want to craft that perfect response to the most annoying character in your book. You can even rewrite it over and over again and no one will know how long it took you to single in on that one amazing come-back.

What about you? Given the option, would you pick dialogue or exposition to craft? And why?

Blessings,

Eileen

Definitely dialogue! I love the interaction between hero and heroine, especially if they can't stand each other at first. I love the developing "like" for each other, turning into "love" and love to see that come out in what they have to say to each other.

I love dialogue too. Exposition is necessary but dialogue is fun. Like you said, lots of back and forth. Plus, it can be so revealing to character.

I hate to be a copy cat, but I adore dialog too! You're so right about crafting the perfect comeback. Plus dialog is so revealing.

So true, guys. Dialogue, especially along with internal monologue, sure does reveal character from speech patterns to thinking styles, to deep characterization.

Thanks for sharing you all!
